His second day of kindergarten my son informed us that he and his friend “Threw stuff at cars” during recess. I always felt ashamed that I wasn’t more ashamed, but instead rather proud. Now it all makes sense. U.S.A., baby
As time-honored an American tradition as s’mores and apple pie. My (Charlotte’s) brother and sister used to sit in our front yard spitting at passing cars, and while my dad did eventually find out and get them in trouble, he was more angry about one of the drivers cussing them out than he was at them for spitting. As is right.
Haha this is awesome. My aunts and uncles grew up on the southside in the West Pullman area of Roseland. These stories remind me so much of their stories, especially the bikes. My mom always said she rode the bikes everywhere.
My aunts' young stories are all wholesome and my uncle who grew up there had a lot of crazy stories that he is still releasing slowly so my nonna doesn't die of shock I think. One involved going around and sipping the cream off the top of all the milk bottles. Everyone started complaining to the milkman until they caught him and his friend one day.
The bullies must have been nice in the south side because growing up whenever I complained about being bullied my mom would say, "Just act stupid and that will make them stop." Still not sure how that worked.
Amazing. I often think how charming it would be to go back to milk delivery until I hear stories like this one. Also truly excellent advice from your mother! Bullies never go after the dumb kids, right?🤔
The best journalistic take on Leo XIV since his brother…
Much appreciated! We are always committed to bringing the finest journalism to our public.

Yeah bullies never make fun of you for being dumb... lol
Also from south side: Roseland, later Dolton.
